Citrix UPM Streaming and Anti-Virus issues!

Problem:

Increased login times/Login “Welcome” continuous spinning/Start Menu Freezing/Session Freezing when connecting to Citrix Sessions

AV Product:  McAfee (5.1.0.25 and 4.1.2.2) on systems running VSE 8.8 Patch 2 or Patch 4.

File Browsing/Server performance are fine by remotely connecting to server.

The event logs shows the following events when the issues occurs:-

Event ID: 5051
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Description: A thread in process took longer than <nnn> ms to complete a request. The process will be terminated.

Event ID: 6006
Description: The winlogon notification subscriber took 89 second(s) to handle the notification event (Logon).

Resolution:
  • Update all software to the latest versions.
    NOTE: This behavior is not observed with the latest version of UPM 5.2
  • Add the Citrix Profile management service (UserProfileManager.exe), to the list of Low Risk processes in VSE
  • Disable Streaming Profile if this has been enabled and the symptoms are the same as above.
